The women’s hockey team (3-10, 2-4 Ivies) heads to Boston this weekend to hit the ice against two ECAC foes, Northeastern University and Boston College.

Last weekend saw the Red post its most convincing victory of the season against Vermont on Friday only to fall to Dartmouth the next day.

Senior co-captain Jenel Bode sees last Saturday’s loss as one that will motivate and inspire the team this weekend.

She noted: “We were all pretty upset about the loss to Dartmouth — we played all around as hard as we could, and the score doesn’t show how hard we fought against them. Intensity was really high in practice this week as a result, so hopefully we’ll carry that through to the game against Northeastern.”

The Red will need to be at the top of its game tomorrow as Northeastern (16-2-0, 10-2-0 ECAC) is ranked No. 1 in the National Pairwise Rankings and No. 3 in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll.

Bode says the team isn’t fazed by the success of the Huskies however. In fact, the Red looking forward to it.

“We’ve taken a bunch of games from them in their house so it’s kind of a rivalry with them.”

Bode and her co-captains, fellow seniors Sarah Olivier and Erinn Perushek, continue to set the example for their teammates. Their solid play throughout December and January has put them at second, third, and fourth on the team in points, respectively. Pacing the team in both goals and points is junior Lindsay Murao, who netted two assists and a goal in last weekend’s split.

The icers should be able to pick up a solid win against Boston College (3-11-3, 1-9-2 ECAC) on Sunday if they can capitalize on the high level of play they anticipate in the game with Northeastern tomorrow.

“It’s always better to play a really good team first,” says Bode. “You play at a high level and you continue that the next day — you have that edge. Hopefully we’ll set the pace tomorrow and take it from there through the game Sunday, too.” The women’s hockey team (3-10, 2-4 Ivies) heads to Boston this weekend to hit the ice against two ECAC foes, Northeastern University and Boston College.
