Latino Groups Look Back at Hall Takeover

This week commemorates the takeover of Day Hall by students that lead to the establishment of the Latino Studies Program (LSP), the Latino Living Center (LLC) and numerous other moves by the University to recognize Latino student rights on campus.

The takeover began when a group of students entered Day Hall to discuss a piece of artwork on the Arts Quad which, after being vandalized, bore several anti-Latino racial slurs on Nov. 12, 1993. They refused to leave until issues were settled.
