Last week, two companies, Bain Capital Partners (who does indeed recruit at Cornell and did not give me an interview) and Game Plan, made an offer of $3.5 billion to purchase the entire NHL. The two companies claimed that their purchase would boost revenue, since it would make the NHL under one umbrealla, rather than 30 separate corporations.
