To an American reader, the facts that follow are shocking. Tickets to their concerts have fetched eBay prices of over a thousand bucks; said concerts typically sell out in under an hour; the then-unknowns were signed by Domino Recording Company, home to indie giants like Franz Ferdinand, Elliot Smith, and Pavement, yet the Monkeys have raked in the most money to date; everyone in the band is 20 years old or younger.
