W. Tennis Cruises to Wins

The women’s tennis team (5-1) experienced a dominant weekend, easily overpowering both the Temple Owls and Cincinnati Bearcats in a pair of home matches this past weekend.

The Red had no trouble brushing aside Temple (3-4) on Saturday afternoon, 5-2. Junior Kasia Preneta had a big day, teaming with senior Liying Wang to win No. 2 doubles convincingly, 8-0. She performed double duties on the day, later returning to the court for No. 2 singles to dispatch Yuri Kurashima in two of tight sets, 7-6,11-9, 6-4.

Senior co-captain Mollie Edinson recovered from a tough No. 1 doubles defeat with freshman Shayna Miller, downing Sharanya Pattabi 6-4, 6-2. The win moved Edinson – who regularly plays both No.1 singles and doubles for the team – over .500 for the year at the competitive No. 1 singles spot.
