Chats in the Stacks book talk: Forsaken Females–The Global Brutalization of Women

Print More

Genital mutilation, slavery, infanticide, sex trafficking, rape–violence experienced by women across the world takes varied forms and victimizes women at every stage of life. Forsaken Females explores the diverse ideologies and cultural conditions that condone and perpetuate this brutality, offering compelling stories that women themselves share about victimization and its physical, emotional and economic impact. In a “Chats in the Stacks” book talk honoring International Women’s Day, authors Andrea Parrot (Dept. of Policy Analysis and Management) and Nina Cummings (Gannett Health Services) will share highlights from their new book and point out examples of promising policies and practices that address and reduce violence against women.
