Feline Health Center Director Dies at 58

James Richards, the director of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Feline Health Center, died yesterday as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident on April 22. He was 58.
Richards, an expert in cat care, came to Cornell in 1991 as the assistant director of the Feline Health Center. He became director in 1997.
Richards wrote the ASPCA Complete Guide to Cats and co-authored The Cornell Book of Cats. He was formerly the president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
Richards is survived by his wife, Anita, and two sons, Jesse and Seth. A memorial service will be held Saturday at the Bethel Grove Bible Church at 2 p.m.
