The women’s ice hockey team struggled on both offense and defense last year, only earning four wins in 29 outings. This seasons started off with a Red sweep of Vermont, 3-0, and 4-2, to claim its first weeekend sweep since the 1998-99 season.
Cornell’s defense stopped Vermont on all 12 powerplay opportunities after giving up 42 powerplay goals last year — more than one per game.
Sophomore goalie Jenny Niesluchowski, who only recorded one win in 13 games last year, got a clean sheet (36 saves).
