A female student filed a report with the Cornell University Police Department Sunday that said she was assaulted on Libe Slope on March 12.Dave Honan, operations manager for CUPD, said that it was unclear why the student waited 15 days to report the incident, but that this delay would be a part of CUPD’s investigation.According to the report, an unidentified white male asked the female student for money. The victim reported that “the male struck her in the face with a closed fist, causing injury to her face,” according to a message sent to the Cornell community on Monday by CUPD.Although the police are still investigating the incident, Honan said that the alleged assault did not appear to be related to a forcible touching incident reported by a different female student March 11, who reported being forcible touched on College Avenue. According to the report from CUPD, the female student in that incident said that a “white male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt … grabbed her buttocks with both hands from behind” while passing her.
