An Elmira man was wounded in a shooting on the 500 block of West Green Street — five blocks west of the Ithaca Commons — early Saturday morning, according to the Ithaca Police Department.
Police said the victim, Russell Blackman, was shot at least three times with a small caliber firearm.
When police responded to reports of gun shots around 1:40 a.m., they found blood on the street and sidewalk, but no sign of the victim.
Police later learned that Blackman had been taken to Cayuga Medical Center in a private vehicle.
Blackman was later taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., where he was listed in fair condition, police said.
According to Ithaca Police Officer Michael Nelson, no further information about the suspect or what caused the conflict was available Sunday.
