Gymnastics Team Wins First Dual Meet Of Season Against SUNY Cortland

The Cornell gymnastics team traveled to the Park Center Gymnastics Arena over the weekend, where the Red won its first dual meet of the season — beating the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons, 188.675-183.875. This meet marks the third straight competition this season where the Red has finished higher than 188.000.

Cornell earned the top marks in the vault, bars and beam events, with Cortland only inching the Red out by 1.000 on floor. Junior McKenna Archer finished in first place on vault, scoring the top overall mark of the day with a 9.825. Junior Ashley Maher and sophomore Alexi Schupp tied at 9.650 on bars, giving the pair the top score in the category.

Freshman Maia Vernacchia and Archer tied for second on beam, scoring identical scores of 9.600. Archer finished her final event of the day, floor, tied with freshman Jessie Starcevich for a team-high score of 9.575
