Junior co-captain Christine McIntosh has already gotten a taste for competition this fall, competing in the North American Cup in St. Louis, Mo., from Oct. 12-15. The junior foilist placed 11th overall out of a pool of 120 participants.
“These were the best fencers in the country,”said head coach Iryna Dolgikh. “Christine worked so hard in September to prepare and certainly deserves this high finish. We are very proud for Christine and wish her all the best this season.”
McIntosh went undefeated for five matches, having a plus-16 touch differential. In the championship round, the junior earned a bye before defeating Sarah Parmacek, 15-12, and Clarisse Luminet, 15-11. She eventually fell in the 16th round to Margaret L.C. Lu, 15-8.
