Kendrick Lamar, a hip hop artist best known for his song “Swimming Pools (Drank),” will join thousands of Cornell students on Slope Day this year, the Slope Day Programming Board announced Thursday.

Hailing from Compton, Calif., Lamar first came into the spotlight after releasing his fourth mixtape, Overly Dedicated, in 2010. Lamar’s hit “Swimming Pools (Drank)” peaked at number 17 on Billboard Hot 100 in February.

The 23-year-old rapper, who has collaborated with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, compares himself to Tupac Shakur, according to his website.
