Elderly Woman Struck by Vehicle, Flown to Hospital

An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon in downtown Ithaca.

At around 12:15 p.m., the woman was struck by a vehicle near Pete’s Grocery on Buffalo Street, according to a press release from the Ithaca Fire Department.

Upon arriving at the West end of the City of Ithaca, firefighters, police officers and Bangs Ambulance crews found the woman down on the ground and semi-responsive. Because of the extent of her injuries, emergency responders set up a landing zone at Titus Flats and flew the woman by helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Penn.

The status of the patient was unknown as of Friday evening. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
