In response to the “large” number of recent fires in the Cornell and Ithaca area, members of the Ithaca Fire Department identified careless student behavior and impaired judgment from alcohol consumption as major fire safety hazards.
According to Lieutenant Thomas Basher, public information officer for thee Ithaca Fire Department, IFD has gotten over 1,000 emergency calls in 2014 so far, which included 13 fires. (Rio Jacobbe / Sun Staff Photographer)
