When the No. 1 team in the nation visited Schoellkopf Field Tuesday, the Red faced its most difficult test of the season in equally difficult playing conditions. With wind and snow bothering both teams throughout the contest, Cornell had its second half run fall just short of unseating Syracuse from atop the NCAA rankings.

Although Cornell came close to an upset late in the game, the Red started out slow, falling behind the Orange, 4-0, in the opening half. Coming off of an overtime victory against Brown just three days prior, where they scored six first half goals, the Red could not get a shot past Syracuse’s goalkeeper, Alyssa Constantino. Constantino turned away four first-half shots, including two from the Red’s leading scorer, junior co-captain Lindsay Toppe.
