President David Skorton said he is still deciding on the future of free bus passes for first-year students just days after the University Assembly called upon Cornell to increase its subsidies to Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit.

The U.A. voted April 22 in favor of increasing the University’s subsidies to TCAT, in light of a $700,000 annual budget deficit facing Transportation Services. Approximately $500,000 of that deficit is caused by an increase in TCAT’s freshmen ridership.
