Marisa Sergi ’15, a viticulture and enology major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the newly-crowned winner of the Miss New York Collegiate America pageant, said a “big factor” that drew her to compete in the pageant was its anti-bullying campaign.

Sergi, who is responsible for promoting the pageant’s anti-bullying platform — Building Respect and Values for Everyone, or BRAVE — said she now wants to help school-aged children overcome their personal challenges because she dealt with similar issues growing up.
