The Cornell women’s hockey team dominated on Tuesday night, skating its way to a 6-2 victory over the Syracuse Orange. Five different players scored goals for the Red (4-6-1), with sophomore forward Hanna Bunton leading the way with two goals. The win ends the Red’s three game winless streak but only adds the Syracuse’s struggle (4-8-7), having won just one of its past seven games.

The Red did not notch its first goal until 17 minutes into the first period. After a missed wrap-around shot by junior forward Jess Brown, sophomore forward Brianna Veerman handled the rebound and sent the puck flying into the net past Syracuse goalie Jenn Gilligan. This was Veerman’s second goal of the season.

After a low-scoring first period, things quickly picked up in the second. Less than a minute into the period, senior forward Jillian Saulnier scored off of a perfect pass from senior captain Brianne Jenner to extend the Red’s lead, 2-0.
