For the first time in the history of Cornell men’s hockey, the Red will be captained by four players. All of them are seniors. In light of the team’s season opener against Niagara on Friday, the Red announced that the team has named seniors Christian Hilbrich, John Knisley, Teemu Tiitinen and Reece Willcox as captains for the 2015-2016 season.

“They have done a tremendous job through the spring and fall of helping the team become a collective group. Everyone bought in and team chemistry has been great,” said head coach Mike Schafer in a press release. “We’re looking forward to having them lead that continuing process as a leadership group.”

The Red has never named more than three captains for a single season. On the ice, only two players will don the red “C” at a given time. Hilbrich and Willcox will serve as captains for the Red’s away games while Knisley and Tiitinen will wear the “C” at Lynah Rink.

The Red returns to Lynah on Saturday night after opening the season tonight at Niagara.
