• You are absolutely right. We have way more computer scientists than hackers at Cornell. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, although a bit more balance would be nice.

    On the other hand, many of the best developers I know at Cornell are not fans of hackathon. I personally stopped going after once, because it was just too physically demanding to stay up all night, and I didn’t feel like it’s the best way to produce high-quality software. YMMV of course.
