Student Assembly on Thursday called on Cornell to consider hiring its first Hindu and Muslim chaplains and to require faculty to reschedule exams when more than three are scheduled within two days.
A hearing board of five Cornellians determined on Wednesday night McBride did not violate the Campus Code of Conduct when he shared internal working group documents with The Sun.
The success of the OJA’s charge against McBride depends on how the University Hearing Board interprets two sections of Cornell’s Campus Code of Conduct.
The student says Cornell’s investigation caused him to attempt suicide.
Cornell University is once again being sued by a male student who claims he was mistreated while being investigated for sexual misconduct.
“The University, through its current policy — intentional or not — imposes additional financial and administrative costs on groups wishing to host conservative speakers,” said Troy LeCaire ’17, president of the Cornell Political Union.
Several focus group participants went on to say that the University’s Title IX investigators were slow and unresponsive. Sometimes, participants claimed the Title IX office would wait over a month before responding to complaints. During this delay, attendees warned, witnesses’ recollections of events could fade and taint their testimonies.
Some members of the Student Assembly said an assemblyman who videotaped and took the names of protesters may have violated S.A. ethics rules.
“That the investigation has reached this stage, at least under the current crop of OCR investigators, almost always means OCR will find something wrong.”
The University’s investigator had “no evidence whatsoever to place the [male student] (or anyone else for that matter) at the scene of the theft,” according to the Minikus report.
