According to a recent report conducted by Social Finance, Inc., Cornell Law graduates receive a higher average salary — approximately $183,377 three years after graduation — than other law school graduates across the United States.
“Many of the same messages we give a voice to during protests, rallies and marches at Cornell are recapitulated here,” he said. “The gravity of this event, being on the same tracts of land from which Donald Trump’s supporters cheered yesterday, gave rise to a very inspired message.”
“The inclusion piece, I think, is the harder piece, and that’s the culture work,” Winfield said. Quoting attorney Verna Myers, Winfield added that “Diversity is being invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance.”
Turer also spoke to the benefits of Greek life, saying that Cornell’s fraternity community is “one of the strongest, most diverse and progressive in the nation.
Over 60 students attended the discussion, hosted by the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the ALANA Intercultural Board and Black Students United on Monday.
“One thing that the Student Assembly has done is lit a fire in the administrative quarters,” he said.
Fontana has told his residents in his emails that the situation has made him “sick,” and that he is “fighting every hour to get [the residents] in as soon as possible.” However, despite his apologies and monetary compensation, residents argue that his efforts do not sufficiently ease the situations’ inconveniences.
Cornell students officially eat at the third best dining facilities in the country, according to the Princeton Review’s latest rankings for best campus food. This is Cornell’s highest position on the list in 20 years. Gail Finan ’69, who has served as Cornell Dining’s director for eight years, said the acknowledgement was most meaningful because it came from Cornell students themselves. “This is recognition by students, and students only, evaluating and recognizing the hard work that the entire Cornell Dining team does every day,” Finan said. “I know the efforts we go to, and the challenges we face, and it’s so gratifying to see this clear proof that our biggest audience, our students, know it too.”
The Princeton Review rates colleges using an annual student survey, according to its website.
“What I find out when I go to Korea or Asia is… that if you live a mile beyond the last bus stop of the bus system… you’re a hermit,” he said. “The respect is for somebody who has a vision of their own and stays with their own vision, and is able to break away from being 100 percent, totally social.”
The school’s new master’s program, formally titled the ‘Master of Professional Studies in Management,’ will open its doors to students in fall 2017.
