The 24-Hour Playfest has a simple and daunting premise: Create and stage a play in less than 24 hours. Sponsored by the Department of Performing and Media Arts and organized by Jillian Holch ’16, the Playfest brought together over 60 students to stage manage, write, direct and act in six original plays. The theme of the festival, “Restart” and the twist, “Magic,” were announced to all participants on the evening of Friday, August 29 at 7 p.m. The writers then had 12 hours to come up with a script, incorporating the theme and the twist and explicitly forbidden from filling time with monologue. At 7 a.m. the plays were cast and directors and stage managers were distributed and at 7 p.m. on Saturday, 150 seats were filled at the Schwartz Center.
