At the present moment, Cornell Information Technologies (CIT) is slightly embarrassed to be dealing with a leak involving the personal records of 45,000 members of the Cornell community. Just slightly.

If you wander the arts quad today, you'll see the patch of grass to the left of A.D. White covered in small flags. The display was created in remembrance of the Holocaust, with each flag representing 4,000 killed through the genocide. The flags are not only in memorial of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, but also in memory of any minorities that suffered at the hands of the Nazis, including homosexuals and mentally challenged. Each group is represented by a different colored flag (e.g. Yellow flags represent Jewish victims)

This is an interesting post that the New York Times has about student blogs at M.I.T. The student blogs have had a fairly substantial effect on life at M.I.T. They've changed contributed to changing housing policy, and have had a dramatic enough impact on incoming freshmen that the bloggers become almost celebrities, as the time notes.

With free soap in Ho Plaza and newly installed hand-sanitizer dispensers all over campus, swine flu prevention is in style at Cornell. But, despite the fact that clean-hand vigilance goes a long way in keeping us healthy, it won’t actually prevent us from getting sick if – God forbid – we contract H1N1. Immunization will. And it could be the rage on campus in the foreseeable future.

If you're a current member of Cornell's community, you probably received a CU Crime Alert Email Monday night regarding a "forcible touching incident." If not, I've pasted it below: "Cornell University Police has been advised that the Ithaca Police Department is investigating a reported forcible touching incident that occurred sometime this past weekend (Sept. 5-6) in the approximate area of the 300 block of College Avenue. The incident was reported to the Cornell University Police Monday afternoon, Sept. 7. The details of the incident are still being investigated, and suspect information is still being developed."

Like roommate disputes and the stress of the first round of prelims each semester, the hangover ranks among the most painful and prevalent college experiences. It seems to me that everyone has their own, unique morning-after cure when rest and water won’t do the trick. (How I Met Your Mother fans might recall Lily ordering a greasy tuna melt and Ted ordering gravy to ease their hangover woes.) But hold on to your greasy pizza and bagels, Cornellians, because researchers at the Institute of Medical Science and Jeju National University in South Korea have scientifically proven that one food reduces hangover symptoms and decreases liver damage – asparagus.
