Bikinis and Slingbacks

I love Target. Every time I walk in, there are lots of colorful and shiny things that I am drawn to like a fly to a bug zapper. But walking in with the new Liberty of London for Target collection on display is like Target awesomeness on crack.

Getting Fit From Head to Toe!

Leigha Kemmett  —  Feb 4, 2010

After an indulgent holiday season, my favorite New Year’s resolution is almost always to lose a few (or more than a few) pounds. Besides cutting back my consumption of alcohol and chocolate (ugh), this year I decided to try out a new workout plan. I re-joined my favorite gym from home, hired my mother’s trainer and started sweating as soon as I could. The problem?

Freezing? Get Warm!

Things are starting to get pretty cold, and you’re looking for holiday gifts for all the people you love. The simple solution: Buy warm, cozy gifts for yourself (you deserve them, obviously!) and maybe some lucky friends. One of the best gifts that almost everyone appreciates is a cashmere sweater.

Lotion Potions

As the weather turns grayer and dryer by the day, our skin takes quite a toll. It’s around this time of year that my complexion seems to get splotchy, dry and overall a complete disaster. Luckily, over the course of my time at Cornell I’ve tested just about every facial moisturizer under the sun (or clouds, in Ithaca’s case).

Delicious! Cookies and Guacamole

Chocolate chip cookies are (almost) everyone’s favorite treat. And, for those who have been lucky enough to taste his food, Thomas Keller is many people’s favorite chef. For those of us who can’t afford $275 for a dinner at Per Se or The French Laundry, Keller has a few lovely little outposts in the Time Warner Center (and Yountville and Vegas), Bouchon Bakery. And, for those of us stuck in Ithaca, the kind folks at Williams-Sonoma commissioned Keller and the Bouchon folks to create an exclusive line of boxed-mix products. On my most recent trip to Syracuse, I picked up a box of the Bouchon chocolate chunk cookie mix. While the directions were admittedly complicated, the mix was a mix nonetheless and was easy to put together. The result?

Burger Consuming and Calorie Burning

When Five Guys opened in Ithaca, it was as if Jean Georges had decided to open up shop in Ithaca or Bobby Flay had decided to bestow his food on us. Hailing from Boston and thus unaware of the new chain, I decided to stop by to check it out. Upon seeing the line, I left and returned a few days later. And repeated the same steps until finally, one Monday night at about 9 p.m., the line seemed reasonable. That was, until I ordered my food, and proceeded to wait about 25 minutes for it to be ready. When my number finally was called, I was pleasantly surprised that the burger was good and the fries were better. However, the burger was just that — good.
