Police are urging Cornell students “to take prudent and necessary safety precautions” after three sexual assaults were reported Sunday.

Cornell Police are currently investigating an incident that left a student with a lacerated arm outside a fraternity house on Sunday.

Two men wearing masks and brandishing a gun robbed a student on North Campus late Monday night, according to Cornell Police. The student was not injured, but the robbers took the student’s iPhone.

Studying for a master’s degree, caring for his two sons and supervising the Cornell Police Department’s night shift takes a toll on Sgt. Anthony Bellamy’s sleep schedule. But he has to stay sharp for when emergencies arise.

At least four people have been stopped from climbing over the campus fences erected to stop suicides since the University installed the barriers in 2010. While the intentions of the individuals are not known, some administrators said the barriers gave emergency responders time to intervene.

A somber mood settled over the Annabel Taylor Chapel where Sabre, Cornell’s first police dog, was honored by the Cornell University Police Department and members of the Cornell and Ithaca community Wednesday in a memorial service. Sabre died last month at the age of 12.

Two people were robbed at knife-point on West Campus Monday night, according to a report from the Cornell Police.

Cornell Police Chief Kathy Zoner attended the Experience Israel Training Tour in Tel Aviv, Israel, in October, becoming the first police chief of a university to do so. During her stay, Zoner and 10 other conference attendees were given an inside look at the security operations of Israel’s counterterrorism initiatives. 

The Cornell University Police Department placed second in the university police category of the National Law Enforcement Challenge on Oct. 25.
