Tompkins County Democrats rallied for their party’s candidates Sunday night at the Lansing Community Center.
“A rally gets people excited to vote, and gives ordinary people a chance to meet the candidates,” said Shary Zifchock, the former Democratic election commissioner of the Board of Elections in Tompkins County.

Congressional candidate promotes nat’l change

Michael Arcuri, the Democratic candidate for New York’s 24th Congressional seat, addressed students and area residents last night in Uris Auditorium. Arcuri has served as Oneida County’s District Attorney for the last 13 years and teaches a course on constitutional law at Utica College. The 24th district includes much of the area surrounding the city of Ithaca, but most of the Cornell campus and the town of Ithaca lie in the 22nd district.
C.U. to Host Debate For Governor Race

Cornell will host a debate between Elliot Spitzer and John Faso for governor of New York on Tuesday, Sept. 26, as well as a possible senatorial debate, according to Blaine Friedlander, Cornell News Service. The debate is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New York State and Time Warner Cable news channels. The League is sponsoring debates throughout the state for several different elections.
