An Ithaca man is being charged with attempted burglary after he was reportedly caught trying to break into a house early Saturday morning, according to the Ithaca Police Department.

The man arrested for shooting an Ithaca police officer in October was indicted by a Tompkins County grand jury for attempted murder last week.

There was a slew of crimes —  including a robbery, several attempted robberies and multiple stabbings — reported in Ithaca between Sunday evening and Monday afternoon.

Despite prolonged opposition from emergency responders, the Ithaca Common Council approved an amended version of Mayor Svante Myrick’s ’09 budget Wednesday, closing the city’s $3 million deficit through a mixture of spending cuts and revenue increases.

Ithaca Police Officer Anthony Augustine, who was shot last week while pursuing a suspect in West Hill, was released Thursday from Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, according to an IPD statement.

As of Tuesday, Jinsoo Kim ’14 — who was arrested on Oct. 1 in connection with a break-in at 312 College Ave. — was no longer enrolled as a student at Cornell, according to the University Registrar.
