While the future site of CornellNYC Tech on Roosevelt Island was not damaged by Hurricane Sandy, tech campus officials said provisions are being put in place to protect the campus against future disasters.

Roosevelt Island residents voiced their concerns and support for Cornell NYC Tech at a community board meeting Monday night, kicking off a seven-month community review process of the proposed campus.

The transformation of New York City’s Roosevelt Island took another leap forward Wednesday with the dedication of a park devoted to the island’s namesake, President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The city is currently conducting a review of Roosevelt Island to determine whether there will be adequate transportation to and from the campus.

CornellNYC Tech is now accepting applications for its first class of full-time students, the University announced Wednesday.
