As students returned to a snowy Ithaca campus Monday, their counterparts at CornellNYC Tech attended the first day of classes at Google’s headquarters in Manhattan, their temporary campus.
At a panel discussion Thursday, several professors questioned Cornell’s partnership with the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, sparking heated debate and causing one Cornell professor who formerly taught at the Technion to walk out.
Cornell’s proposal for the NYC Tech Campus features a new academic approach to learning called hubs which combine science and technology with innovation and education.
Supported by several professors, a pro-Palestinian student organization is calling on the University to end its partnership with the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. The group alleges that the Technion is implicated in war crimes as a result of its involvement in Israeli military research and development.
