Early this week our weather pattern looks like something we should see in late spring. For the first time in months, the polar jet will be located above Ithaca. Temperatures could reach above 60 degrees on Wednesday! This is a far cry from the negative 4 degree low we experienced just five days ago. Given this spread, I hope you can see predicting weather futures can be harder than predicting the stock market (anyone at J.P. Morgan reading this? I need a job ... desperately.) Interesting tid bit, did you know it’s been statistically proven that on average the stock market does better on sunny days than cloudy days? Apparently the market functions irrationally, and floor traders are more likely to buy if they are happy, and they are more happy when it’s sunny. Think about it, man!
