• The Cazenovia Public Library will has an exhibition going on today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to benefit stray dogs in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur Mexico. Painter Randy Akers has a series of pieces titled “The Dogs of Todos Santos” that depicts stray dogs in the village. All proceeds from the sale of the paintings will go to The Refuge Animal Sanctuary. Come participate in the art of helping others.

• This weekend is the 19th Annual Juried Photography Show at the State of the Art Gallery, located at 120 W. State Street. Artists from all over the Empire State will contribute photos in all different styles — black and white, color and digital. The exhibition will be on display until March 30, but the reception for artists will be tonight, opening night, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• If you thought quilt making was boring, guess again. Writer, artist and professor Michael James will be displaying the changes that this art form has been going through. This Saturday, James’s quilts will be at the Memorial Art Gallery to show the results of new technology on quilt making. James digitally designs and prints his patterns before sewing them into the fabric, and his most recent work will be shown at the University of Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery all day on Saturday.

• Happy Birthday Oswego! At the ripe old age of 175, the Village of Oswego is throwing quite a bash this weekend. On Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be cake, music, entertainment and more in the Oswego High School Fieldhouse. Gifts optional.
