This Week's Eclipse
From the Eclipse Editor
November 21, 2008 - 12:00amAfter graduation, the majority of Cornell students say goodbye to their friends, pack up their belongings and reconvene with fellow alums in places like New York City, Los Angeles, Boston … just about anywhere that isn’t Ithaca. But for some grads, Ithaca is not just the city that is host to Cornell; for some, Ithaca represents the place that they wish to live and work during their adult lives.
This week, learn about some of these Cornell grads, who either stuck around or came back to Ithaca to open up businesses catering to current students. Who would have thought that That Burrito Place was the brainchild of a recent grad, or that Dino’s is owned by a Big Red alum? Many of the businesses that students frequent in Collegetown are owned by Cornell’s own. This week, Eclipse checks out these businesses and investigates why some students stay when their friends have left good old Ithaca.
If you aren’t yet sick of Ithaca (and all of its cold, wet snow), check out a few cozy date ideas in this week’s Cheap Dates, featuring local, holiday-themed ideas for you and a special someone. Check out a review of Ithaca’s most famous restaurant, and learn a few great cocktail recipes perfect for the upcoming holiday.
No matter where you are next week, enjoy Thanksgiving, and we’ll see you in December!
Happy holidays,
