Does a higher price tag really mean a better product? This week, we check out snacks and shoes.

After a long, cold day of skiing, one of my favorite treats is a nice plate of gooey mac and cheese. In Park City, Utah, this break, I enjoyed a nice plate of truffled mac & cheese at Zoom Park City. Made with fresh pasta, white cheddar cheese and shaved truffles, the meal was gooey but bland, not to mention outrageously overpriced. — $55.00

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, available at Wegmans, is another story. In about 10 minutes, I had a bowl of buttery, delicious mac and cheese. While it was a completely different version of the same dish, it was nonetheless delicious: much more delicious than its pretentious, truffled cousin. — $1.19

In New York over break, I couldn’t help but splurge on a pair of leopard print pumps. The first pair I came across, Christian Louboutin hidden platform pumps, somehow managed to make five inch heels comfortable for hours on end, all atop a sassy red sole. — $860.00

Ariane pumps at Aldo were equally tall and equally pretty. However, they left me with blisters and possibly permanent damage to my arches. While you certainly don’t need to spend hundreds on shoes, at least go with a shorter heel with cheaper shoes. — $49.99
