I'm Down with Utah State

The great thing about the NCAA Tournament is that everybody roots for the underdog. Even though I have an basketball obsession with the Big East, I am hoping that Utah State takes them out (and consequently kills my brackets) not just because they are the underdog but if these fans are happy, they will be great support for the Red, who play following this game. Only being an hour plane ride away from Idaho, they are out in full force and can make the Red feel right at home, even in the great potato state.

Even better, one of Missouri's guards said that due to its inexperience in the NCAA tournament, the Tigers will come out nervous in the beginning. ... Good, let's see a couple of Tiger turnovers, lets see some 3-pointers and get this crowd in the game. They can hop right on the bandwagon. I won't be mad about it.

1:56 EST - Who is more nervous?

You would think it would be Cornell. When your the Big 12 Champion, do you really get nervous going up the best team in the Ivy League? Probably not. When your that Ivy League school, do you feel nervous? Maybe. Maybe not.

The Red have played at Syracuse, Minnesota, Indiana and St. Joseph's this year. They've battled in some of the craziest environments in college basketball (even dating back to Duke last year). In fact, the Red have more recent NCAA experience than the Tigers having played in the tournament last year while Missouri is making its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2003.

Missouri is expected by many to at least challenge Memphis a couple of rounds ahead in this tournament. Some projections have Cornell losing by as much as 30. Cornell has nothing to lose, all to gain. Missouri, regardless of how great the season was previous to this, has everything to lose.

So, I ask again, who is more nervous?

1:49 PM EST New Starting Lineup

I don't know if junior Geoff Reeves is still hurt or not but he apparently isn't at full health. I just got handed the starting lineups for the Cornell/Missouri game, Chris Wroblewski will be starting in the back court alongside Louis Dale and Geoff Reeves. It appears Reeves will still be playing but one has to wonder, with him missing his last two games of the season just how healthy he is.

11:43 - The Cornell team has been watching the game from right behind the Marquette band. They seem to enjoy it especially with the crowd's intensity. (They went crazy after a 4-0, yes a 4-0 run). As a matter of fact, with 16:09 left, they just took a one point lead and the crowd erupted. I can't hear myself type. The Tigers, on the other hand, I saw them come off the bus with police escort during halftime.

Getting pumped?
