At the end of season six in 2007, Larry David left his viewers utterly confused as to whether or not his wife, Sheryl, had actually left him. In her place? Loretta Black, the matriarch of the Black family he and Sheryl took in after a hurricane destroyed the Blacks’ home. Larry David as “Larry David” In two episodes to date, season seven has met and surpassed expectations. In the season’s opener, Larry’s fat friend and manager, Jeff Green, has sex with a mental patient, all while Larry is trying to find ways to leave Loretta in case she is diagnosed with cancer. Selfish as always, Larry doesn’t want to stick. around to be her support system. Episode two? In a twist, Loretta leaves Larry after seeing what she thinks is him receiving oral sex in his parked car. Not as such, but David is finally free. Rumored to be the best season to date, we will find out if Larry can get win his ex-wife, Sheryl, back. We also are left with many unanswered questions. Is Loretta gone? How could she be, when her freeloading brother, Leon, is still parking himself in a guest bedroom in Larry’s house? A clip “about nothing” from episode 2, season 7 Fall means new television, and with the increased affordability and popularity of premium networks like Showtime and Cinemax, HBO’s once-cornered market has a long way to fall (no pun intended). But perhaps David’s return to television, with a promised Seinfeld cast reunion, can once again pull HBO out of the shadows of Showtime’s Weeds and Entourage’s hit-or-miss episodes.
