LUX: Art and Science Exhibition opens Tuesday and closes May 11 at Milstein Gallery and Willard Straight Hall: Art and science intersect at LUX, an art installation that investigates the nature of light and showcases its malleability. Light is used as a tool to elucidate a spectrum of ideas, from mapping the universe to creating images with dust particles. Among the seven featured artists is Natalie Tyler, Risley's Artist-in-Residence, whose interactive work involves large cocoons that alter their brightness in response to viewers' movements. On Saturday at 3 p.m., Nobel Prize winning chemistry Professor Roald Hoffman and MacArthur Genius Award receipient Michal Lipson will deliver lectures on the generation and manipulation of light, while Physics professor Philip Krasicky will conduct interactive demonstrations of light technology. LUX is co-sponsored by the Department of Art and Department of Physics. — Sun Staff
