• Has the wait for the fourth Shrek movie become too painful? Was the best movie you’ve seen in the past few months Ratatouille? Animation-lovers unite! Susan Napier of Tufts University will be speaking at Princeton this afternoon about animation, its place in 21st-century culture and how it relates to the increase in virtual reality we see around us. If you’re reading this later than about noon, though, you might have to just draw yourself a picture of this event because there’s a chance you’ll be too late.
• The “HCAP (Harvard College in Asia Project) Showcase” is this weekend. Groups such as the Harvard Callbacks, Ballet Folklorico, Dance Revelasians, Harvard Breakers, Spoken Word Society and several more will gather in Harvard’s Lowell Lecture Hall tomorrow to entertain the crowd. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m., but get there early to secure a seat.
• Tomorrow is the 19th annual World Culture Family Day: Celebration of African Cultures at UPenn. Do music, storytelling, dancing, workships and gallery tours tickle your multicultural fancy? If that isn’t enough, I think the acrobatic grand finale from the Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble will do the trick. The festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get ready for a fun day.
• Pianist Eric Reed and guests will be playing classic music from composer Reverend Thomas A. Doresey at Columbia this weekend. Johnny Cash, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon Johnson are all well-known fans of Dorsey, who widely is regarded as the father of Gospel music. Miller Theater will fill with sound at approximately 8 p.m. tomorrow night.
