Sophomore Connor Kaufmann, made famous by his April 1 no-hitter, was named the Ivy League’s Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Sharing the honor with Dartmouth’s Kyle Hunter, Kaufmann has held a share of the award for the third time in the past four weeks.
The sophomore threw his second shutout of the season on Saturday, April 21 against Penn — his first being the no-hitter against Dartmouth earlier in the month. Kaufmann struck out a season-high six batter and allowed just three hits. Only one Penn runner made it to second base, but he was unable to score as Kaufmann got the batter to hit a ground ball, which sparked an inning-ending double play. The sophomore continued on to retired the last 10 batters of the game. Kauffman is the ninth Cornell pitcher in program history to record two shutouts in the same season.
