To be frank, we’re surprised we made it to Slope Day,

But now that it’s here we’ve got much to say.

This semester’s been quite the wild ride,

As we embark on a hiatus, we step out with pride.

Budget cuts have been an ominous dark cloud,

Colleges’ funding were limited, from contract to endowed.

We watched as the Physical Sciences Library got the ax,

But what about the Lab of Ornithology? We had to ask.

As the billion dollar endowment continued to shrink,

The trustees sold $250 million in bonds, with just a nod and a wink.

Staff and faculty fret over the thought of their job security,

Questions loomed over Milstein Hall, its funding clouded in obscurity.

With the first direct election of Pres and Vice of the S.A.,

We hope them student leaders will see a brighter day.

A day when moratoriums are a thing of the past,

And the SAFC’s bureaucracy was transparent at last.

We also elected a new student to the Board of Trustees,

We'd like to see dreadlocks return and we hope he agrees.

On a serious note, we’d like a student in the exec committee,

To discuss uber secret things that are kept oh so shady.

We kept a close eye on the Arts Quad’s morphing displays,

The activism and art caused many an eyebrow to raise.

All hell broke an arrangement of 1,300 black flags,

We scratched our heads at what we thought were body bags.

To you, our readers, thanks for reading our stuff,

Don't miss us too much, we’ll be back soon enough.

But there's a lot out there for you to see and do,

The Pussycat Dolls are here! Oh, and Asher Roth too.

So go enjoy Slope Day and set this paper aside,

Throw away all of your books and head on outside.
