Pannell Leads M. Lacrosse to First-Round Win Over Hofstra

Cornell to play winner of Princeton-UMass next weekend in Hempstead, N.Y.

Attackman Rob Pannell justified his new Ivy League Rookie of the Year trophy - awarded on Wednesday by the league office - with a five-point performance to boost the Red over visiting Hofstra, 11-8, in the first round of the NCAA tournament. With the win, Cornell moves on to a rematch with fourth-seeded Princeton, a 10-7 victor over UMass on Sunday. The game will be played at Hofstra on Saturday at 3 p.m. Cornell beat Princeton, 10-7, on April 18 at home in the team's biggest win of the season. The Tigers were ranked No. 1 in the country when they lost to the Red.
