GYMNASTICS | Red Travels to USAG Nationals

Over the weekend, the gymnastics team traveled to Shreveport, La., where the Red was one of eight schools to participate in the 2013 USAG Collegiate National Championships. While Cornell did not advance past the preliminaries as a team, gymnasts made it through to the finals with each event being represented.

The Cornell softball team will take its talents to the Big Apple this weekend for a four-game series against rival Columbia. The Red (14-16, 4-4) will play back-to-back doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday in a pivotal matchup of Southern Division teams. The Lions (15-16, 4-4) are tied with Cornell at the bottom of the division, looking up to Penn at 7-1.

With just 22 seconds remaining in a game that had gone back and forth for nearly 60 minutes, Cornell senior midfielder Connor English beat his defender, drew back his stick and fired the ball at the Syracuse goal — only to have the shot deflect off the cross-bar, preventing the Red from tying up the match and ending Wednesday’s game in a 13-12 loss to the Orange.
