The news that Ithaca topped the car-free charts was exciting to TCAT’s general manager Scot Vanderpool, who said the metro can attribute its ranking to accessible alternative transportation means: Ithaca Car-Share, the introduction of LimeBikes, the large number of Cornell students walking to and from classes and the TCAT.
At around 1:30 a.m., a LimeBike was on fire near Cornell’s North Campus. The fire appeared to be minor, Cornell police said, but not an accident.
A new fleet of citrus-green scooters may potentially be whizzing through campus come May to join the ranks of LimeBikes.
“We hope that bikeshare will expand to cover uphill areas like Collegetown and maybe even Cornell,” Chang said.
