Dr. Lorna M. Breen ’92 M.S. ’21, a top emergency room doctor and the medical director of the emergency department at NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, passed away in Charlottesville, Virginia this past Sunday.
The ninth president of Cornell, former President Frank H. T. Rhodes died on Monday at age 93.
Prof. Emeritus Stephen Poleskie, an international artist and writer, died on Dec. 21, 2019. He was 81.
Known as a talented computer science student in the College of Engineering, Paul Benton Fisher-York ’22 passed away on Dec. 25 while at home with his family. He was 19.

A scholar of French language and literature alike, celebrated Prof. Emeritus Jacques Bereaud, romance studies, died on Oct. 22. He was 81 years old.
Celebrated writer and mentor Prof. James McConkey, english, who had been a professor at Cornell for nearly four decades, died on Oct. 24. He was 98 years old.
McConkey was known for his nonfiction essays, which were heavily rooted in his own personal experiences. In addition to some of his works that appeared in The New Yorker, McConkey also wrote and edited 15 books, according to a University press release.
Harold Bloom ‘51, an English professor at Yale University and literary critic, died at the age of 89 on Oct. 14 in New Haven. He taught his last class at Yale University on Oct. 10.
Gregory Eells, the former head of Cornell’s Counseling and Psychological Services Department, died on Monday morning in Philadelphia, according to an email to faculty and staff by Vice President of Student and Campus Life Ryan Lombardi.
