Venus Williams Beats Sister Serena in Wimbledon Championship

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — This time, big sister put little sister in her place.

Advantage, Miss Venus Williams.

She defeated Serena 7-5, 6-4 Saturday for her fifth Wimbledon title and second in a row. Venus avenged two previous losses to her younger sibling in the final at the All England Club and reasserted her dominance on her favorite court and favorite grass surface.

After a dominant performance at Mock Duals in front of its home crowd, the women’s tennis team looks to continue its success at the Northeast Regionals in Hanover, N.H., this weekend. The tournament consists of all the best teams and players in the northeast region, including numerous Ivy League adversaries.



W. Tennis Impresses at Home Invitational

The women’s tennis team showed flashes of dominance in its first outing of the 2006-07 season, winning two titles as it hosted the annual Cornell Fall Invitational this past weekend.

Hosting Army, Buffalo, Colgate, Lehigh, Marist and Niagara at the Reis Tennis Center, the Red “had representation in every flight,” according to head coach Laura Glitz.
