Slope Day has become one of Cornell’s biggest traditions, but within the Ivy League it is hardly unique. Right now, almost all the other Ivies are gearing up for their annual outdoor Spring concerts — concerts each school considers among its own great traditions.
One of Slope Day’s lesser known opening acts is Francis and the Lights, a New York City based “electro-funk” band led by charismatic crooner and frontman Francis Farewell Starlite. Personally invited by Slope Day main act Drake to appear between him and k-os, Starlite and his unique outfit will no doubt serve as an interesting interlude between the two Canadian rappers.
While Drake is a familiar name to anyone who has attended a frat party in the last six months, he will not be the only artist from across the border to grace the Slope come May 7th. Canadian rapper k-os will open the show, though his sound is quite different from that of the headliner.
