Cesar Munera ’04, who was critically injured after falling from his fifth floor window in Mary Donlon Hall last Friday, has now been upgraded to serious condition after initially being listed under critical condition, according to Cayuga Medical Center.
Munera fractured multiple bones as a result of the fall. He was discovered by a Ujaama resident who called the Cornell Police (CUPD) after hearing someone moaning and speaking, according to Simeon Moss, deputy director of Cornell News Service.
Munera’s roommate, Jon Hatton ’04, said that he and Munera had come from a bar night at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity the night before, but did not think that alcohol was the cause of the accident.
CUPD Captain Randall Hausner ’85 declined to comment on whether there will be an investigation of the fraternity.
“Our only concern at this point is for the welfare of Cesar,” said Luke Gilhooly ’01, president of Beta, who would not comment further on the accident or possible investigation.
