The men’s and women’s squash teams will have the pleasure of making the considerable drive to Maine this weekend in order to play Bowdoin and Bates.
Taking a break from its rigorous Ivy League schedule, the Red is expected to defeat both teams, though it is expected have a tougher time against Bowdoin than Bates.
Though its opponents this weekend will undoubtedly be outside the upper echelon of collegiate squash, Cornell will nonetheless need victories to boost its case for a finish in the top-eight in the country by the end of the regular season, which would assure the club a spot in the ‘A’ flight in the national championships later this month.
The men (5-5, 3-3 Ivy) have already seen Bates this season, pounding the Bobcats on January 14th.
Both the men and women (4-3, 3-3 Ivy) can stand proud after their matches against Yale, Hamilton and Brown on January 20th and 21st. Despite the Big Red men’s 9-0 loss to Yale, the team rebounded to sweep Hamilton, 9-0, and hammer Brown, 7-2.
For their part, the women defeated all three opponents that weekend.
