The three day EISL Championships got underway yesterday at the U.S Military Academy.
The day included finals in the 200 frestyle relay, the 500 freestyle, the 200 IM, 1 meter diving, the 50 freestyle, and the 400 yard medley relay.
Although Cornell lacked any outstanding performances in the inidividual events, the relay teams picked up the slack. Included in the impressive effort from the Red’s relay squads was the 200 freestyle relay team of Christian Sweetser, Matt Harting, Will Norgad, and Jim Drvostep. Their efforts earned them an eight place finish with a time of 1:20.65.
Sweetser and Norgard also teamed up with Forrest Kennedy and Ryan Buckham to place seventh in the 400 yard medley competition.
Norgard furthered displayed his versatility in the 50 freestyle, placing 21st with a time of 21.42. Eric Gonzalez followed suit, and swam to a 19th place finish in the 500 freestyle in 4:37.15.
The competition’s second of three days begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Crandall Pool.
